Interested in organizing a group service project to support Catholic Charities Lorain County? Please contact the Lorain Office to learn more. Below are examples of ways to help.
Each quarter, there is a focus related to projects that support our service to the community. The projects work to address needs of our community, including the collection of:
Household cleaning supplies and hygiene products: These supplies are critical for our community members who may not have funding to purchase these needed items. We also create "welcome home" baskets for clients as they move into their new homes. This is ongoing.
Food Insecurity: Gas cards and grocery certificates, along with a non-perishable meal in a bag are great collections that our community seeks, needs and we never have enough of! This is ongoing.
Bookbags (whether new or used) & school supplies: The bookbags are provided to those who are transient or unhoused to be able to secure their belongings. New bookbags and supplies are given to community members at the beginning of the school year. This would begin in May each year.
Holiday Gifts: These items include books, socks, toys, gift cards etc and are a great project for groups to take on. This process would begin in October each year.Coats/Boots/Socks (new preferred, but used coats and boots are fine) We collect all sizes for winter gear to distribute to our clients. Larger sizes, along with toddler-school age sizes of are greatest need. This collection begins in September.
