Serve as a mentor to help Lorain County teens build positive behaviors, improve school performance, and strengthen family relationships. With a focus on developing pro-social skills, the program includes mentoring, group sessions, community connections, and skill-building opportunities.
After completing training, mentors will be assigned to one mentee, who they will support in achieving the goals they have set for their mentoring time. Mentors will work with our Program Coordinator and the mentee's family to set a regular schedule for mentoring.
During mentoring time, the mentor and mentee will plan and engage in various activities in and around the community. This volunteer opportunity allows for flexible scheduling, but does require annual training, relationship building, and reliable transportation. Funding is available for mentoring activities.
Time Commitment
We ask volunteers to spend a minimum of 2 hours biweekly with their mentee. These activities are to be scheduled after school or on the weekend.
In addition, mentees will regularly check in with staff.
