Volunteer: Matt Talbot - Internship
Basic Function:
Working with and under the supervision of the Clinical Director or Clinical Supervisor, is responsible for assisting with a wide range of projects, including but not limited to, providing clinical therapeutic and prevention services in an outpatient mental health office, school, community center and/or via telehealth.
This position is expected to complete office-based work with hours established according to the requirements of the educational institute. Willing to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings.
Responsibilities: The Clinical Intern will assist with the following projects or tasks: • Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland. • Provides behavioral health assessments, develop treatment plans and provide counseling to clients in a residential setting. • Provides assistance with prevention programming which may include individual or group work. • Participates in agency and community meetings as needed • Completes all paperwork required by the agency within designated time frames. • Meets core social work, counselor, marriage & family competencies and adheres to regulations. • Perform other duties necessary to accomplish objectives.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands • Normal office environment; • Constant talking, listening/hearing for giving instructions, daily communication with supervisor and other staff members; • Occasional sitting, walking and standing to and from office spacing. • Reading, writing and finger dexterity and hand movement in repetitive motions to manage correspondence, reports/notes, faxing, copying, answering phones, forms/documents, computer keyboard and client files required on a frequent basis; • Tasks require frequent visual perception and discernment for assessing behavioral functioning; • Frequent use of computer and telephone/cell phone. • Occasional travel may be required.
Requirements: • Individual is required to have a Bachelor’s degree and is pursuing a Master’s degree in an accredited program for Social Work, Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy. • Individual is required to have a trainee license. • Willing to work a flexible schedule. Office-based work is required. • Fingerprint, background check, completion of Catholic Charities onboarding procedures once accepted. • Intern will abide by the contractual agreement between Catholic Charities and the higher education program.
