We need all current volunteers to complete our updated digital waivers. It only takes a few minutes, but it’s a vital step in keeping our community protected and our programs running smoothly.

Duties:

· Meet and greet event participants, as needed.

· Providing information to event participants, as needed.

· Help set up and take down event equipment, including tent/awning, tables, chairs, giveaways, and program information.

· Helping to construct and deconstruct structures, as needed (thinking about parade prep here)

· Assisting in transportation, loading and unloading of supplies for event.

· Assisting in taking photos, as needed, for company marketing and social media needs.

· Assist in the overall workings of Catholic Charities involvement in scheduled special events.

· Provide a positive representation of Catholic Charities at the event.

Impact: Represent Catholic Charities, its mission, and its work to those who may be unfamiliar with it. This helps broaden our reach and make positive connections with and within our community.

Time Commitment: Pre-arranged events, as needed, available, and scheduled to provide support to program staff.

Description

Volunteers serving with the Immigration Legal Services will work with our staff to assist clients in the preparation and filing of their applications for immigrant benefits from US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Volunteers will join one of the following volunteer groups:

Intake - Assists our intake team with interviewing potential clients seeking our services. The interview gathers demographic information, and screens clients for eligibility for our programs and grant funding. These interviews are given both in person and over the phone. Training on how to give a trauma-informed interview is required for this team. 

Form Preparation - Assists the paralegals with completing USCIS forms which are assigned by a legal representative. Schedules meetings with clients over the phone or in-person to complete their applications. Training for this team involves shadowing the paralegals and completing the forms under their supervision. 

Research and writing - Assists the legal representatives with research on case law or country conditions to support their legal arguments, drafts briefs and motions. Volunteers with prior legal experience are preferred for this team. Work for this team can be done on-site or remotely. 

The tasks and responsibilities of this role include:

6 month time commitment (preferred)

We are seeking volunteer mentors to be matched with a youth ages 10-17 in Wayne County. Males are paired with males, and females are paired with females.

Volunteers are provided with training, gas cards, and opportunities for reimbursement for activities with their mentee. The program coordinator plans a monthly group event for all the mentors and mentees together.

Time Commitment

We ask volunteers to spend a minimum of 4 hours per month with their mentee, 2 hours at the group event and 2 hours individually.

Auto Insurance is required.

Catholic Charities St. Elizabeth Center services to the community include daily hot meals, help with basic needs, a choice food pantry, fresh produce, rental and utility assistance, temporary overnight shelter, coordinated entry and case management services.

Every month, on the first and third Fridays, St. Elizabeth Center distributes pantry bags to our neighbors. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and distribute pantry bags.

St. Elizabeth Center in central Lorain is a community resource for persons who are homeless, hungry or otherwise vulnerable to receive assistance. Join us as an ongoing volunteer to support our clients.

This position will be an assistant to the STRIVE program coordinator and will report to them directly. Duties will include assisting the program coordinator with setting up and tearing down group events. Group events are typically the 3rd Monday of the month, with the assistant volunteering from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

STRIVE Mentoring Program connects youth (ages 10 to 17) identified by the Wayne County Juvenile Court with a caring adult that can serve as a supportive individual and help them deal with various life challenges including but not limited to social/emotional, academic, personal growth and development.

Camp Christopher is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Sumfun Volunteers. This unique opportunity allows volunteers to make a positive impact on the lives of campers with disabilities while enjoying a fulfilling and rewarding experience. As a Sumfun Volunteer, you will work closely with our day campers and support our dedicated counselors in creating a fun and inclusive environment.

This is an opportunity for students ages 13-17 years old to volunteer at Camp Christopher!

Assist Catholic Charities in Lorain County with garden clean-up efforts to welcome the spring season. Volunteers help with outdoor tasks such as raking leaves, trimming shrubs, picking up litter, planting flowers, and laying mulch to refresh the grounds.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring gardening tools and gloves. In the event of inclement weather, volunteers assist with indoor spring cleaning projects.
